Visual Diary: Leaving was Hard

Some places just hit different. Kanazawa was one of them. I can’t give you a bullet-point list of why. It wasn’t the gardens, or the castles, or even the food. It was just the vibe. Slow, calm, a little gritty around the edges. The kind of place that makes you pull your camera out way too often.

A while back I made a promise to myself: use photography to document experiences, not just chase “hero shots.” Usually that means sticking to one lens, walk around and see what reveals itself.

My last morning there I was meant to be on an early train to Kyoto. Instead, I got hit with that gut-punch of leaving a place you’re not ready to leave. So I stalled. Wandered the streets, took some photos, told myself I’d keep going until I got hungry enough to move on. That became my departure plan.

These are a few of the shots from that slow walk out of the city. Just captured feelings. And yes, in case you wondered, I filled that hunger with an early ramen.
