Visual Diary: Kanazawa Nights
When you search for Kanazawa in Japan, you’ll usually see the big-ticket stuff. Edo-era districts, castle walls, manicured gardens. All stunning. All expected.
But what pulled me in wasn’t the postcard-perfect side. It was the retro sprawl of Katamachi–Korinbo. Neon lights, late-night ramen joints, locals just living their lives. Don’t get me wrong, the classic sights are beautiful. But this part of town was rougher around the edges and a world away from the tourist brochures.
There’s a gritty charm to it. The kind of place that feels alive at every hour. I couldn’t stop shooting. I know “cinematic” gets thrown around a lot, but that’s exactly what it felt like.
Here are some frames from that deep dive.
