Visual Diary: Fujiyoshida Part 1

Have you ever arrived somewhere that felt oddly familiar… even though you'd never been? Like stepping into a place you might’ve dreamed about. That’s what Fujiyoshida was for me.

I hadn’t done much research, I just knew Mount Fuji loomed over the area. The plan was simple: book a small room, wander on foot, and see what the town revealed. I caught a bus from Tokyo that afternoon. When I arrived, it was cold and moody. Fuji was completely hidden behind thick grey skies.

So, I leaned into the quiet. Grabbed a warm meal, curled up early in my room, unloaded some photos onto my laptop, and waited for the forecasted clear skies of tomorrow. The plan? Wake early, chase the light, and make the most of my time in this sleepy little town.

Here’s how my first day in Fujiyoshida unfolded.
